Business Planning is the Key to Success

Having a plan in place provides clarity, accountability, and motivation – three keys to running a successful business.

Taking the time to plan (things like marketing strategy, revenue goals, budget, production, etc.) will put your entire team on the same page. The executive team was able to focus on what needed to do to bring the best quality product to existing customers and expand operations to include more successful small businesses. 

Once the team clear and united with a vision, it was time to set goals and assign owners. Part of this process included developing a plan to track and report the performance of each stakeholder. That way, everyone is held accountable.

A quote about the accountability principle: “Where performance is measured, performance improves. Where performance is measured and reported, performance improves dramatically. Where performance is measured and reported publicly, performance improves exponentially.” As you hold each other accountable, your performance will improve exponentially.

It’s amazing what happens when you put your plans down on paper – everyone gets excited! Everyone can see the direction you’re headed, and the motivation to succeed is intense. Planning for the future is a great way to re-energize your team for the coming months.
